Running Rugby Returns To The Airwaves

In exciting news for Camden Rugby and Macarthur Sports Radio, the original “Running Rugby” commentary team will be returning to the airwaves, for a special event next month.

The Camden Rams will be hosting the Campbelltown Harlequins at Wire Lane, South Camden on April 1, in Round 2 of the Illawarra Rugby Premiership for 2017.

The Rams and Harlequins have a long and ‘chequered’ history, with many battles dating back over the decades. Some of these have been broadcast, with community radio station 2MCR being the host of these during the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

A new home has been found at MSR, with head Mike Shean excited to be heading back to Wire Lane once again to call the local derby. Original commentators Ian O’Hare and ‘scrum doctor’ Gregor McKenzie will again join Mike once more to bring the colour and passion of derby day to the MSR listeners.

Discussions are continuing into whether other matches will be broadcast during the 2017 IDRU season, including the finals series, which will be held in August and September.

Final details will be confirmed in the coming weeks, with kickoff scheduled for 3.15pm on April 1, and it can only be heard on MSR – macarthursportsradio.com
